Before you use the result

Average sale values and attendance are assumptions, not a sales forecast. The tool separates the return before your own time from the amount remaining after your chosen time allowance.

How it works

StallMargin separates an event’s cash return from the amount left after an allowance for your time. Use several sales scenarios when deciding whether a stall fee is affordable. Expected sales are your assumption, not a prediction of footfall.

  1. Enter an average selling price, product cost and percentage fee. Use a realistic sales mix when choosing the average.
  2. Add the stall fee, travel and other event expenses.
  3. Enter expected units sold and all event hours, including preparation and travel if relevant. Compare break-even sales with and without your time allowance.

Worked example

A sale of 12, less 4 product cost and a 3% fee, contributes 7.64. Event costs of 120 need 16 sales to cover them. Including 120 for eight hours of your time raises break-even to 32 sales. At 50 sales, the return after that time allowance is 142.

Does break-even mean I have paid myself?

Only the break-even figure that includes your time allowance does. The event-cost figure covers the stall, travel and other event costs you entered.

Can I use several product prices?

This version uses one average sale and cost. Run separate low, middle and high sales-mix scenarios. It is not a stock-level planner or an attendance forecast.
