All amounts use the same currency. Work consistently before or after tax; this tool does not calculate tax. Selling fees are your own planning assumption.
How it works
Use BatchPrice to find the selling price that covers a whole production batch, pays for the labour you enter and leaves your chosen margin. Start with sellable units, not every item you attempt to make.
- Add materials, labour hours multiplied by your hourly cost, and the other costs of the batch.
- Divide that total by the number of sellable units.
- Divide the unit cost by 1 minus the fee rate minus the margin rate. A 35% margin means 35% of the selling price, rather than a 35% markup on cost.
Worked example
The example batch costs 138 for 24 units, or 5.75 each. With 10% selling fees and a 35% margin, 5.75 ÷ 0.55 gives an unrounded price of 10.4545. The displayed price is 10.45. Round up to 10.46 if you need to meet rather than fall slightly below that target. These are illustrative amounts in any single currency.
Does this include my wages?
It includes the labour hours and hourly cost you enter. Your target margin is what remains after those listed costs and selling fees. Include packing and other work in your hours if they matter to the batch.
Can I use it for Etsy pricing?
Yes, if you supply the relevant costs yourself. The tool does not maintain Etsy fee rates. Fixed per-order charges need a suitable allowance in your batch costs; a single percentage cannot describe every fee.
