Before you use the result

Do not enter passwords, API keys or recovery codes. Record who owns each system and where authorised access is managed. This pack documents your inputs; it does not verify backups, access or security.

How it works

SiteHandoff helps turn project notes into a website handover document. Record who owns each system and how the next person can operate it. Every verification item remains unchecked until someone performs the check.

  1. Enter the public website and the people or roles responsible for operating it.
  2. Describe hosting, deployment, backups, renewals and support arrangements using verified project facts.
  3. Review the generated checklist with the owner. Store credentials in the agreed password manager or access system, never in the handover text.

Worked example

For a small client website, record who owns the domain and hosting account, where deployment happens, how a previous version is restored and when services renew. A note saying “backup exists” is not evidence of a successful restore. Leave that check open until it is tested.

Does the tool verify access or backups?

No. It organises the information you provide. Login access, billing ownership, restores and security checks must be confirmed separately.

Can I use the document for client work?

Yes. The proposed business licence permits use of the outputs in client work. It does not permit reselling or redistributing the software itself. The offline edition adds reusable input files and Markdown and HTML export.
